A UK-based company has announced plans to launch a space film studio in late 2024 that will allow filmmakers and creative professionals to produce, record and live stream content from microgravity environments in low orbit.

The space studio will also provide the location and production infrastructure for hosting and filming third-party content and events.

UK-based Space Entertainment Enterprise (SEE), which is producing Hollywood actor Tom Cruise’s next film in space, has unveiled ‘SEE-1’, the world’s first content and entertainment studios and multi-purpose arena in space.

The space station module will be built by Axiom Space, the leader in manned spaceflight services and human space infrastructure.

“SEE-1 is expected to launch in late 2024 and dock with Axiom’s first commercial space station, Axiom Station, while tethered to the International Space Station (ISS),” the company said in a statement Thursday. evening.

The module will allow artists, producers, and creatives to develop, produce, record, and live stream content that maximizes the Space Station’s microgravity environment, including movies, television, music, and sporting events.

The company is currently in talks with investors and business partners on the project with further fundraising expected soon.

“SEE-1 is an incredible opportunity for humanity to move into a different realm and start an exciting new chapter in space,” said SEEA co-founders Dmitry and Elena Lesnevsky.

“SEE-1 will not only provide the first, but also the supreme quality space structure enabling the expansion of the two trillion dollar global entertainment industry into low Earth orbit,” they added.

SEE-1 is expected to become operational from December 2024, when the in-orbit assembly of the Axiom station begins.

When the station’s initial configuration is complete and it’s ready to separate from the ISS in 2028, the place for content creation will be one-fifth of its volume.

“The addition of a dedicated entertainment venue to Axiom Station’s commercial capabilities in the form of SEE-1 will expand the station’s usefulness as a platform for a global user base and highlight the range of opportunities offered by the new space economy,” said Michael Suffredini, President and CEO of Axiom Space.

SEE-1 will include state-of-the-art in-vehicle multimedia production capability that will capture and convey the experience of weightlessness with breathtaking impact.

“From Jules Verne to Star Trek, sci-fi entertainment has inspired millions around the world to dream of what the future might bring. Creating a next-generation entertainment venue in space opens countless doors to create amazing new content and make those dreams come true,” said Richard Johnston, Chief Operating Officer, SEE
