Doga Kobo Studio Temporarily Closing Due to COVID-19

Just when you thought Covid had stopped affecting the anime industry, the virus resurfaced as a bad joke. This time it touched the staff members of the famous anime studio Doga Kobo.

It was recently announced that Studio Doga Kobo will be temporarily closed until April 17. Several studio staff have contracted COVID-19. The virus had spread quite quickly among them.

As a result, the studio is faced with a dilemma when it comes to releasing the spring 2022 anime, Shikimori’s Not Just a Cutie. The series was previously scheduled to release on April 2, which was later delayed to April 9.

Since the studio will remain closed, staff members are faced with a dilemma regarding the anime’s release schedule. Although episode 1 of the anime is still scheduled for April 9, we cannot be sure about the following episodes.

Doga Kobo has made a name for himself in the anime industry with series like Monthly Girls’ Nozaki-kun and more.

The studio is also producing the RPG anime Real Estate, which premiered on April 6. It is possible that it also suffers from delays.

Staff members are still discussing how to solve this problem, and I believe they will find the best possible result.

I was looking forward to Shikimori, but the safety of the creators comes first, and I don’t think anyone would care about a delay if lives are at stake.

About Shikimori is not just a cute

Shikimori’s Not Just a Cutie is a romantic comedy manga series by Keigo Maki that began serialization on Twitter under the title “Kawaii dake ja Nai Onnanoko” Manga in September 2018 before Pocket Magazine picked it up in February 2019.

The story revolves around Shikimori, who seems like the perfect girlfriend: cute and sweet when she wants it, but has a dark, cool side that comes out when her boyfriend Izumi is in trouble.
