Great Bromley’s Black Cactus Studio Launches Support Group

A RECORDING and rehearsal studio is launching a monthly support group for local industry professionals with mental health, alcohol and substance issues.

Black Cactus Studio, in Great Bromley, has teamed up with musician Benjamin Brown and mental health advocate and songwriter Fraser Morgan.

Together they have created a new business called Big Night In which will become an inclusive and safe environment for those working in Essex’s music business.

Anyone who attends the free sessions, whether they are an artist, theater manager, or sound engineer, will be encouraged to speak openly about any issues they may be facing.

The community group will specifically seek to help people tackle their substance abuse, alcohol and mental health issues, but most topics can be discussed.

Black Cactus Studio founder Alan Jones, 27, was inspired to help kickstart the project after he recently enjoyed talking to others about his issues.

Since then, he has achieved 135 days of abstinence – something that he admits has changed his life and could be for others as well.

The Big Night In, which is free and begins in February, will take place the first Tuesday of each month between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Parsons Hill studio.
