We have an absolutely terrific opportunity in Johannesburg on a renowned sports/gaming entertainment platform for a seasoned professional with deep marketing knowledge and expertise to take on the role of Head of Marketing. As Marketing Manager, you will have overall responsibility and accountability for leading the brand’s marketing plans. This will include developing strategies related to brand management, advertising and promotions, customer acquisition, activation and retention with the aim of maximizing revenue and market share.

The successful candidate will be expected to partner and collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and execute a customer-centric strategy. Using insights and data analytics, you’ll deliver superior, personalized customer experiences with measurable results. Responsibilities

Marketing Strategy

  • Develop and implement marketing strategies for the brand to acquire new customers while managing retention of existing customers
  • Develop strategic customer marketing and promotion plans with appropriate customer data analytics and business intelligence
  • Effective delivery of integrated marketing capabilities (process, people, standards, technology, digital expertise, customer data insights and analytics) to support strategy
  • Champion the customer value proposition, experience and insights
  • Leadership, strategic communication, positive positioning and ongoing management and protection of brand and online brand reputation through proactive and positive coverage and effective media relations with broadcast, digital, print and media channels
  • Drive a “best-in-class” customer knowledge culture that allows you to understand who the brand’s customer is; their experiences and preferences; communicate key messages to defined target audiences
  • Lead the digital marketing strategy by reshaping the customer user experience through digital interactions, ensuring player engagement platforms (websites, apps, mobile sites) are optimized to execute the strategy
  • Prepare, submit and manage budget and marketing expenses.

Brand and reputation growth

  • Build a strong, solid and consistent brand identity for the brand locally and in Africa, including creating international exposure and measuring ongoing brand equity, making adjustments as needed
  • Lead a strong and consistent brand identity in promoting corporate reputation
  • Help organize high-profile corporate events and attend relevant industry events to build relationships and promote brand reputation and awareness
  • Customer acquisition and retention campaigns aim to grow the brand through multiple distribution channels to multiple audiences
  • Fosters a culture of customer experience with relevant marketing interventions to acquire and retain relevant target markets
  • The customer value proposition and experience across all operations reflects brand and company values.

Governance and sustainability

  • Improve standards in all marketing operations in line with best practices
  • Ensure internal/external risks to business growth are identified, monitored and managed by marketing management teams
  • Provide leadership and direction to mitigate risks affecting business growth and brand reputation
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, e.g. CPA, POPI, etc.
  • Provide relevant marketing and exposure on corporate responsibility initiatives, particularly in relation to ‘responsible gaming’.

Stakeholder relationship management

  • Ensure relationship agreements with key vendors, business partners and sponsors are established, negotiated and managed to achieve business objectives and leverage new opportunities and joint initiatives
  • Ensure relationships with corporate partners and sponsors are aligned and synergies are maximized
  • Lead communication plans to ensure all business operations understand the vision and standards intended for brand marketing and growth
  • Integrate marketing to ensure synergy and integration of goals, promotional campaigns and messaging across all channels.

people management

  • Demonstrate vision and inspirational leadership to improve employee engagement and motivation within the marketing function
  • Develop a performance-driven culture that is nurtured and realized

  • There are guidelines/policies and procedures in place to follow, but the incumbent must constantly consider ways to improve sustainability, business growth, reputation and profitability.

Terms
The successful candidate must have/be:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing or communication
  • A postgraduate degree or additional business degree is an advantage
  • Additional marketing certifications are a plus
  • A minimum of 15 years of marketing experience, preferably with exposure to the online sports betting and online gaming market
  • Experience with online casino/poker/bingo/sports betting markets
  • Hands-on experience with CRM and SEO tools such as Google Analytics, Google AdWords, Smartico, WebTrends, Trello, etc.
  • A track record of effectively leading integrated marketing teams
