New iRig Pro Quattro I/O camera audio interface and field recorder

IK Multimedia is best known for its mostly affordable content creation equipment, from interfaces and speakers for synthesizers and much more. The new iRig Pro Quattro I/O camera audio interface is specifically designed for people looking to take high-quality, multi-channel audio recordings to accompany video content in the field, but it also works in studio-type situations, whether for podcasting and streaming setups or direct music recording.

Along with the built-in field recorder-grade microphone, it offers four discrete inputs/preamps with 24-bit/96kHz audio conversion rate, a pair of XLR audio outputs, headphone jacks for monitoring, and even MIDI I/O. .

Have you ever found yourself mid-session without a cable or key connection? Or do you worry before, during or even after a shoot that your work might be compromised by technical issues? The iRig Pro Quattro I/O camera audio interface will put those concerns away forever. It’s a portable, professional-grade 4-in/2-out audio and MIDI interface, packed with everything you need for field recording, content creation, streaming, podcasting and the performance. Handle whatever life throws at you without breaking a sweat.

Powered by USB, 9VDC or battery, it’s a great option for the field, whether you’re shooting on iPad and Android devices or pro-grade cameras hooked up to Mac and Windows machines.

A notable feature here is the security channels of the iRig Pro Quattro I/O camera’s audio interface. It will effectively duplicate the audio input hitting channels one and two out of three and four with a 12dB pad (reduced input gain signal) as a sort of backup recording, just in case something goes wrong. with master recordings or clipping (distortion) on a heavy take or something of that nature.

The new iRig Pro Quattro I/O is now available directly from IK to $349.99 shipped.

9to5Toys review:

While the number of content creators seems to be skyrocketing by the day, a professional-grade solution like this that can take you from on-location video shoots to broadcasting podcasts in the studio and beyond can really come in handy. The built-in custom iRig XY pickups “for stunning stereo sound” alongside the onboard mixer and looping channels certainly add to the overall versatility. And while it does require a recording device for everything to happen (iPad, laptop, etc.), unlike some competitors, most of them are more expensive, leaving the new IK camera audio interface and the Field Recorder quite a feature rich and versatile option worth considering.
