EXCLUSIVE: Actor Matthew Lillard, best known for his roles in blockbuster movies Scream and scooby-dooand writer-director Bill Whirity launched Midnite Movie Club, an NFT-based project that allows holders to participate in the first ever “Decentralized Movie Studio”. Lillard and Whirity want to put the power back into the public by letting them decide which films the company will produce.

Midnite Movie Club specifically focuses on the genre space, i.e. Horror, Sci-Fi, Action/Adventure, and Fantasy. The first project of the newly created company is a high-level concept vampire film title let them die – which will go into production in the summer of 2022.

Midnite Movie Club is set up as a DAO or Decentralized Autonomous Organization, which means the community makes decisions together. This is possible thanks to blockchain technology, the vote will be fair and transparent.

“NFTs, Blockchain and Web3 are the future of the internet,” say the founders. “In the years to come, this technology will revolutionize many aspects of our daily lives and the film industry is no exception. Most people think of NFTs as just works of art, but it’s the underlying technology that makes Midnite Movie Club possible. The MMC is a private community, like a country club or gym, and your NFT acts as a membership card. It’s your key to the kingdom, so to speak, and it’s how you vote and help filmmakers develop their films.

Through this system, viewers will be able to both vote on which films get the green light as well as the creative decisions that the filmmakers offer to the community throughout production. Here are some examples of things you’ll vote on: deciding which actors we’ll bid on first, choosing costumes, props, or creature designs, choosing our movie poster design, and more.

In addition to choosing which films the company will produce, the community will also have exclusive access to special features such as viewing audition tapes, set photos and videos, concept art and storyboarding, and participation in live AMAs and live set tours.
