Motive Studio, the studio behind the 2017 remake of Star Wars: Battlefront, Star Wars: Squadrons and the upcoming remake of Dead Space, just announced on Twitter that they are developing an Iron Man game in cooperation with Marvel Studios. However, the game is still in early development, so no release date yet.
There have been several Iron Man games since the start of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, though they’ve been of varying quality. Motive Studios’ games since release have thankfully been well-regarded and all involved flying, so they have plenty of experience that could work with developing a game featuring a hero who can fly and shoot at the same time.
Of course, we also don’t know what this Iron Man game will be about. Tony Stark has a slew of different villains he could face, but we also don’t know what type of game it will be. It could be an open-world game similar to Insomniac Games’ Spider-Man, or something completely different.
Iron Man also has another fun possibility in the form of how quickly Iron Man suits have progressed in the MCU. With the wide variety of tech he uses, we could see things like customizable Iron Man suits and upgrades, not to mention wide varieties of specialized suits for certain situations.
With all the customization that Motive Studio has done with their last two games, making a game about Iron Man seems like something that suits them just fine. Hopefully, whenever the game comes out, it will be a game that can stand alongside other great modern Marvel games like the Spider-Man game or the upcoming Wolverine game developed by Insomniac.
Either way, hopefully Motive can show us something about the game soon, whether at a future E3 showcase or some other event.
