Panasonic has announced its new AK-PLV100GJ 4K PL-Mount studio camera, which has been designed to help productions make their content more exciting and engaging.
The AK-PLV100GJ features a Super 35mm 5.7K MOS sensor and PL mount. It appears to be the exact same sensor used in the EVA-1. The camera is Panasonic’s answer for productions filming live broadcast and outdoor content that want to use PL lenses and larger sensor cameras.
IP-based live production without CCU
To help production studios move towards more connected IP-based workflows, the camera is compatible with SMPTE ST 2110. This enables easier connection to KAIROS’ TI/IP platform (released May 2020).
SMPTE ST 2110 I/O will be possible directly from the AK-PLV100GJ camera head without connecting to a CCU, enabling IP-based live production with just the camera and eliminating the need for complicated systems. It is also possible to output 12G-SDI signals directly from the camera head, enabling flexible system construction and large-scale operations.
The camera head can be changed at any time
The camera head is fully compatible with accessories from Panasonic’s range of 2/3 inch studio cameras. You can replace the existing camera head with the AK-PLV100GJ.
Price and availability
There is no pricing indication for the AK-PLV100GJ, but it will be available in the first months of 2023.
