Regal Entertainment and Reality MM Studio use Virtual Playground as talent management arm

Two of the largest and most award-winning entertainment companies in the Philippines – Regal Entertainment and Reality MM Studios have sealed their partnership with a leading talent management agency – Virtual Playground to officially manage the careers of their contract artists and aim to discover local talents to play in their future projects.

The announcement was made during a virtual conference on December 1 by the COO and Executive Vice President of Regal Entertainment – Roselle Monteverde, the President and CEO of Reality MM Studio – Dondon Monteverde and the CEO of Virtual Playground – Charlie Dy.

Regal Entertainment has been a steadfast mainstay of Filipino entertainment for decades, producing dozens of films a year since its founding by filmmaker Mother Lily Monteverde in the early 1960s.

It was through his ingenuity that the company showcased the famous “Regal Babies” talent roster, paving the way for some of the most prominent superstars to appear in Filipino franchise films like “Shake, Rattle and Roll” and “Mano Po” and TV shows. over the past decades.

In the 1980s, thanks to its production expertise and its roster of high profile celebrities, Regal Entertainment was instrumental in the reestablishment of one of the nation’s largest television networks, ABS-CBN, after its closure during the period of martial law.

Currently, Regal Entertainment continues to make an impact on the television scene by working with television giant GMA Network to produce and broadcast “Regal Studio Presents,” a collection of wellness stories featuring the most talented celebrities today.

Along with its legacy of expertise in film and television production, Regal Entertainment continues to be at the forefront of launching the careers of the nation’s best actors and actresses through their phenomenal digital series – “Ben X Jim” on Youtube and “Gen-Z” on Cignal. Reality MM Studios, under the direction of accomplished producer Ronald “Dondon” Monteverde and award-winning director Erik Matti, has been pushing the boundaries of Filipino cinema for almost two decades.

He has gained recognition both locally and internationally with prolific and imaginative films like “On The Job,” which premiered at the 2013 Cannes International Film Festival; “BuyBust” hailed Gawad Urian’s best film 2019 and one of the films selected for the best films of the decade list by the awarding body; “On The Job: The Missing 8”, which premiered with a standing ovation at the 2021 Venice International Film Festival where lead actor John Arcilla won the coveted Volpi Cup for Best Actor for his role in the film; and a number of internationally renowned titles such as “Honor Thy Father”, “Kuwaresma” and “Seklusyon.

Reality MM Studios also works with a number of producers, distributors and global platforms such as Netflix, which has acquired its titles “BuyBust”, “Kuwaresma” and “A Girl and A Guy”; and HBO Go, with which Reality MM Studios has partnered to produce the first season of Erik Matti’s “On The Job” series as well as episodes of the international “Foodlore” and “Folklore” shows.
