TECNO, a premium smartphone brand focused on emerging markets, is working with BBC StoryWorks, BBC Studios’ in-house business content studio, which has created a short film The Future Goal: Looking Ahead with TECNO to explore the meaning of mobile camera innovation.

The video showcases TECNO’s inclusive mobile camera technology for every user through its unique “glocalization” strategy, detailing the work that has been done to better reflect different communities.

In the article, TECNO discusses how they spotted and resolved the gaps between rapidly developing mobile camera technologies and actual consumer needs in various situations to better meet the unique needs of local users, environments and cultures.

For example, to optimize the imaging quality of portraits, TECNO has built a huge database that covers seven skin types and 76 skin categories in its TAVIOS™ lab. So everyone, no matter what they look like, can enjoy cameras that know how to show them off. In the photo-taking process, TECNO’s progressive algorithms will automatically gather information from users’ surroundings, recognizing various image enhancement opportunities.

Li Jiangtao, Senior Director of TECNO Imaging Products and Head of TAVIOS™ Lab, said, “It’s been a great experience for us to work with BBC Storyworks, share our ideas and tell the story behind the development of our mobile camera. The short film explores the meaning of “Future Lens”, TECNO’s key concept on mobile camera innovation – to provide more inclusive technology for everyone, creating a world with more understanding without limits.

Richard Pattinson, Senior Vice President of BBC StoryWorks, said: “We are delighted to be working with TECNO on this piece. TECNO has provided our content production team with superb access for interviews, including photographer Justin Amoafo, front-line staff from TECNO’s mobile camera department, as well as the opportunity to visit mobile phone manufacturing sites and TECNO camera labs. This allowed us to paint a comprehensive picture for the public of what TECNO does and how it does it, as well as its goals for a more inclusive future.

TECNO is optimistic that emerging markets will continue to see the incredible potential of mobile camera technologies designed to meet the real needs of every user, benefiting communities around the world. TECNO, a rising innovator in mobile cameras, is committed to championing the wide variety of beauty standards and aims to provide users in emerging markets with the ability to express themselves through this technology.

The commercial series will air from January 4 to February 8, 2022. It will include a thirty-second version airing on the BBC World News South Asia Feed and BBC World News Africa feeds, as well as a full version on the hosted branded content hub on BBC.com. – Rappler.com
