The Florida Studio Theater announces the date of its annual fundraising event

The Florida Studio Theater (FST) will hold its annual shindig on Monday, February 6, 2023 in the Hegner Theater wing of FST. Attendees are invited to don their favorite ’70s clothes or their best cocktail attire for TSP’s biggest fundraising event of the year.

Wendy Grady, winter season underwriter and avid supporter of the theater’s WRITE A PLAY program for several years, will chair this event. The Gulf Coast Community Foundation is the main sponsor of FST’s annual party. Sponsorships of different levels are available. To reserve a table for this event on February 6, contact Development Associate Kristin Hartnett at [email protected] or 941.366.9017 ext. 316.

The evening kicks off with a cocktail reception, performances by FST’s resident improv troupe, and more, at 5:30 p.m. Guests will then gather at FST’s Gompertz Theater to watch exclusive live performances by some of FST’s beloved artists. A sit-down dinner by Michael’s On East will close the evening.

During the Shindig, FST will present the prestigious Spelman Prize. Named in honor of Florida Studio Theater founding artistic director Jon Spelman, the Spelman Award is given to a foundation or individual who has demonstrated extraordinary leadership in providing FST with mentorship, financial support and/or or in kind.

The Florida Studio Theater (FST) is Sarasota’s contemporary theater. Founded in 1973, FST has grown into a five-theatre village located in the heart of downtown Sarasota. Each theater is small in size and big in impact, providing an intimate and engaging setting for high quality professional performances.

Today, FST has established itself as a major force in American theater. FST is the largest subscription theater in the State of Florida and one of the largest in the country, serving more than 230,000 spectators each year through its various programs: Mainstage, Cabaret, Stage III, Children’s Theatre, The FST School, New Play Development, and FST Improv.

Even with its growth, Florida Studio Theater remains firmly committed to making the arts accessible and affordable to as many people as possible. Under the direction of Producer Artistic Director Richard Hopkins, FST develops theater that speaks to our living, evolving and dynamically changing world. Hip and historic, entertaining and thought-provoking, we are the theater where the street meets the elite – where everyone is invited to engage in the art of theater.
