Global visual effects studio The Mill has taken another step in its international expansion with a new studio in Seoul. Located in the center of the Gangnam creative district, the new studio is within walking distance of many notable agencies, production companies and brand centers in Seoul. Having a new base in South Korea allows The Mill to leverage its expertise in visual effects, production and experience design in the APAC region, reaching a wider range of international clients and creative collaborators. in new untapped markets.
The Mill has worked with several South Korean clients to date; Recent projects include Samsung’s Gold Cannes Lion-winning “The Spider & The Window,” Hyundai’s “CES 2022 Metaverse Experience,” and KRAFTON’s “PUBG: Battleground.” The new studio will bring the full range of The Mill’s creative capabilities, including its global network of in-house VFX artists, designers and directors in South Korea and beyond.
The Mill Seoul will be led by Vice President Tony Choi, who has over 30 years of production experience, drawing from Western and Eastern cultures in Australia, North America and Korea.
The studio will be creatively led by Executive Creative Director June Park, who has successfully led campaigns for brands including Samsung Hyundai Motors, Kia Motors and Chevrolet (GM). Prior to joining The Mill, Park was head of the Metaverse creative team at Cheil Worldwide. He also played an important role in the creation of metaverse content as the main creative mind of Samsung’s GNUSMAS virtual character.
Mill Seoul’s development and the company’s broader expansion into the APAC market is overseen by Director of Global Strategy Alex Schneider, who has more than two decades of experience growing creative agencies, brands and world-class content studios. Prior to joining The Mill, Schneider was Managing Director of R/GA Portland and held senior roles at Deutsch LA and 72andSunny.
