The One Show didn’t get off to a great start on Wednesday following an “embarrassing” misstep that took place on air.
Host’s Jermaine Jenus, 38, and Sam Quek, 32, were a little flustered after introducing Watchdog’s Nikki Fox to the show.
The 41-year-old presenter was scheduled to take stock of an environmental segment, but as she began to speak, the camera failed to find her in the studio.
Jermaine told viewers, “Well, if you have any questions for our guests tonight or any comments on the rest of the show, please let them know in any usual way.
“But first, it’s Wednesday so it’s Watchdog time with Nikki Fox.”
There was an awkward pause as the camera began to zoom out of the studio – presenters and guest Stanly Tucci sat still on the large sofas.
Nikki can be heard in the background saying, “Hey, here we go”, as Jermaine and Sam come back into view.
Still in the foreground, the football specialist rang out: “We finally got there, didn’t we.”
Now on the screens, Nikki joked, “The camera found me. Yeah, thanks JJ.”
Before adding: “I’m hard to find sometimes.”
Being the true professional that she is, Nikki continued as usual by presenting her Watchdog segment.
While Jermaine and Sam tried to cover up the mistake in the best possible way, many fans at home did not go unnoticed, who took to Twitter to share their thoughts.
A Tweet read, “Was this a complete misunderstanding?” #TheOneShow. “
Another added: “Damn 🙁 #TheOneShow @BBCOne # embarrassing presentation.”
A third wrote: “Every night this week, but tonight is ESPECIALLY bad #theoneshow.”
The One Show airs weekdays on BBC One at 7 p.m. ET.
