The Super Mario Bros. movie composer sharing photos of his recording studio

With less than six months until Nintendo and Illumination bring the Super Mario Bros movie. to theaters, composer Brian Tyler works hard to create the sounds of the Mushroom Kingdom. The Emmy-nominated composer took to Instagram to give fans a peek into the recording studio, including a look at some of his scores for the project.

Currently working at the Eastwood Scoring Stage at Warner Bros. Studio footage shows Tyler conducting the orchestra and choir. For Super Mario’s first foray onto the big screen since the disastrous 1993 film, this animated outing seems to be going big with its score to capture the grand scale of the plumber’s latest adventure. The composer, so far, seems pretty happy with the product, writing in the post, “An amazing day recording the orchestra and choir for the Super Mario Bros. movie! So excited for everyone to see this amazingly amazing!”

Tyler has been a popular choice for film scores for some time now, more recently composing music for Tic and Tac: Rescue Rangers2022 Scream, F9: the fast sagaand a pair of Taylor Sheridan TV watch in Yellowstone and 1883. Mario will, however, provide him with a unique challenge. The classic game franchise’s music is iconic. Almost everyone knows the melody of the plumber’s theme song, but it barely scratches the surface of the whimsical, light and atmospheric background music that captures the feel of each level in the games. He’ll have a ringtone with him to help bring music to the big screen as a longtime Mario composer. koji kondowho is responsible for some of the franchise’s most iconic bits, including the Mario theme, is also on board the project.
