The Weeknd shares their fifth studio album, ‘Dawn FM’: Dancing Astronaut

Once the After hours have come and gone, the sad way back, illuminated by the morning light that crosses the sleeping city, is naturally punctuated by Dawn FM. Master conceptualist The Weeknd has unveiled his fifth studio LP. Told, or rather animated by the inimitable Jim Carrey with all the hushed charisma of a unionized night disc jockey, Dawn FM is a 16 track project billed as a fake radio show with guest appearances by Tyler, The Creator, Quincy Jones and Lil Wayne, all while being with Carrey, “here to hold your hand and guide you through this painless transition” .

Dance giants Swedish House Mafia and Calvin Harris, as well as serial experimenter Oneohtrix Point Never, all of whom have previously documented success alongside The Weeknd, are lending their production skills to the new album. Swedes collect co-writing credits on “How Can I Make You Like Me?” and “Sacrifice”, while Harris gets production credit on “I Heard You’re Married”, with Oneohtrix Point Never as executive producer on the record.

After the longer and more traditional deployment of its predecessor, Dawn FM was announced and arrived in just a week, nonetheless marking another creative show for The Weeknd and once again extending its hot concept streak.

Somewhere in the gray space of purgatory between the afters and the crash, let The Weeknd whisk you away with Dawn FM.
