Disney’s Marvel Studios aannounced on Saturday that he would revive an old comic book character for the big screen that is already causing controversy.
The film studio has announced the cast of its next film, Captain America: New World Order at the D23 conference this weekend, including an Israeli superhero named Sabra, played by Israeli actress Shira Haas. In the comics, she’s a former Mossad spy, dressed in Israeli blue and white, with a Star of David on her costume.
“The filmmakers are taking a fresh approach with the character of Sabra who was first introduced to the comics over 40 years ago,” a Marvel spokesperson said. reported as the buzz around the character grew. A character who shares her name with the genocidal massacre at the Sabra and Shatila refugee camps that Israel was responsible for? Ismail was referring to the Sabra and Shatila massacre which occurred in Lebanon and which was would have carried out by Lebanese Christian militiamen allied with Israel. Next week will be the 40th anniversary of the tragedy.
