As with any growth strategy, we are constantly evaluating the landscape within the industry and how, as a business, we are structuring ourselves to adapt to it. We have grown and changed over the 16 years of Shoot the Company as the content landscape has become more diverse. What qualifies as “content” is as varied as ever, ranging from long-form documentaries to 10-second TikTok videos. Very different in terms of creation and execution, but equally valid in a world in which we consume more content than ever before. The challenge for an agency like Shoot the Company is to continue to create great content for clients with such a variety of creative and editorial briefs. This challenge came to the fore when we started our rebranding. By focusing on the challenges of how we present ourselves on the outside, we realized this opened up a huge opportunity. Rather than simply finding a solution to our marketing challenge, we decided to tackle the problem from within. From there was born Creative Shoots – the creative and design studio of Shoot the Company.

Creative Shoots was founded to produce short, fast and impactful digital content. We realized that the “one size fits all” approach to the diverse content we create for our clients was becoming increasingly difficult. The ability to have our own in-house studio whose sole purpose is to invest in creating contemporary visuals and developing cutting-edge ideas is a game-changer for our business. One of the surprising benefits of the development of Creative Shoots is that instead of operating as a separate entity, it has created greater integration and collaboration within the company. We now have synergy between departments. In addition to managing his own clients, he also takes creative briefs from the broader business to create digital assets and graphics for our long-running projects.

Another great benefit of setting up Creative Shoots is the ability to offer a more flexible approach to budgets and quotes. Setting up the studio allowed us to reassess the financial framework of the business through our pricing, fee structure and budget models. The combination of creative excellence coupled with the agile approach to production, cements our ability to work with clients with smaller budgets.

Creative Shoots is led by senior content creator Sera Sakarya, who leads a growing team.

Sera said, “Performing Creative Shoots gave me a lot of confidence. It’s exciting not only to develop my own career, but also to lead part of the business as it grows. The creation of Creative Shoots allows us to keep up with current industry trends. We are constantly brainstorming ideas so that we can respond quickly and creatively to serve our customers. Personally, I like being able to work on projects that I’m really passionate about and creating work for good causes. Our flexible approach to budgets means there is a freedom that allows us to select a project based on its creative merit.

By implementing Creative Shoots, the company gave time and space to the team, allowing us to act as a sponge to absorb all the creativity that already existed within the company. Everyone on the team is constantly consuming content, and we take everyone’s personal tastes a bit into account in our work. We have earned huge trust from our clients who often work with them at the start of their branded content journey.

The company has always stood up for the people who make it up, but with Creative Shoots, it feels like they allow everyone on the team to really shine. Everyone understands their role and the role they have to play. I’m really excited for the future.

There’s no doubt that the business case for Creative Shoots is strong, but the most rewarding benefit has been the ability to create the next generation of leaders within the company. When the industry struggles to attract new talent and retain staff, this is an essential part of our growth strategy and enables us to recruit more broadly. The studio is now responsible for its own recruitment and management of its team as well as external marketing and business development. For an agency that’s already rising high and producing great work, the launch of Creative Shoots has instilled a new boost of confidence in a team that’s excited for what’s to come.

To celebrate 15 years of Shoot the Company, we organized a competition offering a budget to a talented young director to make a short film. The Creative Shoots team organized this competition, selecting the winner – Amber Akaunu – and working closely with her through pre-production, production and post-production. Amber and the team at Creative Shoots have formed a solid partnership and the brilliant film they made, 0151: Liverpool, Rap & Politics, has just been nominated for the Liverpool Film Festival. A great first success story for the Creative Shoots team.
